Hyatt Bets on Luxury in Asia Pacific With 90 New Hotels Planned

Hyatt’s putting its money on a traveler who’s still willing to pay for more than just a bed for the night. It’s a bit of a left turn, especially when most others are chasing the mid-range market, but that’s where Hyatt sees the opportunity.
While many global hotel chains are pouring resources into budget and mid-range offerings, Hyatt Hotels is betting on luxury and that Asia Pacific is the place where this strategy will pay off.
Nearly two-thirds of Hyatt’s current Asia Pacific portfolio falls under the luxury and upper-upscale category. Over the next five years, Hyatt plans to open nearly 90 new hotels under its luxury and lifestyle brands across Asia Pacific.
That includes the first-ever Thompson Hotels property in the region, a fresh push for Andaz and The Standard, and expanded openings for Park Hyatt across major destinations like Thailand, Malaysia, and Australia.
