Heatwave: Bans on demonstrations extended until Monday, August 18

Fireworks and sporting and festive events, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., had already been banned in the Dordogne since Friday, August 15. The measure, which was due to end this Sunday morning, has been extended until the following day.
On Sunday, August 17, the exceptional heatwave continues in the Dordogne, with temperatures expected to reach 39 and 40 degrees Celsius. As a result, the restrictions on sporting and festive events, put in place on August 15 and 16, will remain in effect at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, August 17.
Thus, in view of all these elements, in order to protect people's health during this heatwave, as well as the natural (forest, crops, fields) and urban environments of Dordogne against the risk of fire, the prefect of Dordogne has decided to prohibit: all fireworks, whether fired by professionals or individuals, throughout the department; sporting and festive events throughout the department from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., outdoors or indoors without air conditioning; access to forest areas for recreational and sporting activities from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., except to reach leisure centers; hunting is prohibited from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in sensitive areas.
A decision that the prefecture has authorized itself to extend to Tuesday, August 19, depending on the evolution of the weather situation.
