Ouistreham (14): an Albanian drug trafficker involved in a major cocaine trafficking case released and placed under judicial supervision after a procedural error

This is a severe blow to justice. After only three months behind bars, an Albanian man, Orlando G., one of the main players in a resounding cocaine trafficking ring, has been released.
On April 2, after nearly two years of investigation into the fishing community of Ouistreham (Calvados), investigators from the Caen judicial police began a sensitive operation. From a distance, the "Lucky," a trawler based in this Normandy port, was observed and listened to as it sped out to sea. No scallop fishing was on the agenda that night, but the recovery of bales of cocaine dropped by the "Omicron," a cargo ship from South America.
More than 600 kg in total were loaded onto the fishing boat in which Orlando G. was present with two sailors. The cocaine, worth more than 40 million euros at resale, was then transferred to a speedboat which headed for Tancarville (Seine-Maritime). […]
The man, born in Albania in 1998, is now under judicial supervision. The cause is a procedural error. The magistrate responsible for ruling on Orlando G.'s detention had highlighted a damning sound recording placed on the "Lucky" to justify his detention. However, this recording was not yet listed in the investigation file and should not have been mentioned by the magistrates. The latter, like the investigators, now fear seeing Orlando G. disappear.
