Shoulder surgery: a medtech company in Grenoble raises 22 million euros

SCAP Hologram, a young medtech company from Grenoble, has raised 22 million euros to revolutionize shoulder surgery.
€22 million. That's the amount recently raised by the Grenoble-based startup SCAP Hologram, less than two years after its creation. Based in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, Isère, the company develops a real-time holographic intraoperative navigation technology (for use during surgery) specifically for shoulder surgery, a field where this type of assistance remains relatively uncommon. Its solution aims to overcome a long-standing obstacle to the adoption of intraoperative guidance.
The fundraising round was supported by founders Stéphane Lavallée and Delphine Henry, as well as Haventure, MinMaxMedical, eCential Robotics, and the private investment group Surosh. A strategic investor, whose identity remains confidential, also participated. Additional funding was provided by BPIfrance, Caisse d'épargne Rhône-Alpes Auvergne, and BNP Paribas.
The funds raised will allow SCAP Hologram to accelerate the development of its technology and advance through regulatory steps, while strengthening its partnership with MinMaxMedical, whose technologies it uses for its navigation platform. This is a source of great satisfaction for its CEO, Thomas Lonjaret, who stated: "We are delighted to see our technologies integrated into a project that directly addresses an unmet clinical need in the operating room."
The funding could amount to 30 million euros "subject to the achievement of certain predefined milestones".
All eyes in the field of assisted surgery are now on Grenoble, just one month after more than 450 enthusiasts attended the national conference on digital and robotic surgery on September 23.
