The Colosseum, the Leaning Tower, the Rialto Bridge? What are the most popular tourist attractions in Italy?
The top ten attractions in Italy also include: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Spanish Steps in Rome, the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Piazza Navona and the Roman Forum in Rome.
In Rome, beware of con artists, pickpockets and "false priests"The whole of 2024 was also a historically record year for tourists in Rome. Last year, 51.4 million overnight stays and 22.2 million same-day visitors were registered, which was an increase of 4.5 percent in the number of overnight stays and 5.6 percent in the number of arrivals compared to 2023, the city authorities reported.
Unfortunately, swindlers and pickpockets also await the crowds of tourists in Rome. The "gladiators" lurking in front of the Colosseum, who charge a lot for souvenir photos, have gained a bad reputation. And because this year Rome is also a place of pilgrimage for the faithful visiting the capital of Italy for the Jubilee Year, the Roman Diocese also warns against "false priests" who, despite similarities in dress, may be part of independent congregations not recognized by the Catholic Church.
The Polish Embassy in Rome, in turn, publishes advice for tourists: "Planning a trip to Italy? We have some advice and information for you that will make your trip easier and help you cope in difficult situations." It is worth familiarizing yourself with them, because, according to police data, it is in the most crowded places that various abuses most often occur.
