Hala Gąsienicowa is awash in pink. Crowds flock to the Tatra Mountains for this moment.

The pink meadows that cover this high-mountain pasture at the foot of Kościelec and Orla Perć attract crowds of tourists and photographers.

This is one of the most spectacular moments of a Tatra summer. Fireweed blooms en masse, painting the Gąsienicowa Pasture an intense pink.

- This phenomenon lasts for a short time, two weeks at most, so it is worth hurrying up - Tomasz Zając, a Tatra guide and educator of the Tatra National Park, told PAP.

The fireweed is particularly fond of former shepherd meadows, where the soil is rich in nitrogen.

"This plant makes good use of areas formerly used by humans, both after sheep grazing and in areas of windfall. The Gąsienicowa meadow is an ideal habitat for fireweed , which is why it blooms spectacularly there every year," added Zając.

The blooming fireweed creates a striking contrast to the rugged landscape of the High Tatras. Its presence has become an inseparable symbol of late summer in the mountains.

Hala Gąsienicowa can be reached from Kuźnice via the yellow trail through the Jaworzynka Valley or the blue trail through Boczań. The black trail from Brzeziny also leads there, ending at the Murowaniec mountain hut.
