The information was released this Friday (27) by the general director of RAI, Giampaolo Rossi. "It will be an extraordinary event with Roberto Benigni, who tells the story of Peter from the heart of the Vatican," he revealed, at the presentation of the annual program in Naples.

According to the Italian executive, the program with Benigni will be broadcast on Rai1, in December, in prime time, to close the Jubilee.

"I really wanted him to return to RAI, he had been missing for a decade," Rossi added, explaining that the actor will be "the interpreter of the figure of Peter: from the symbolic heart of the Vatican, a story that unites art and faith, a work that embodies the function of public service."

In March, Benigni, who won the 1999 Oscar for best actor for "Life is Beautiful," drew an impressive audience with a monologue about "Europe, The Dream" on the Italian broadcaster.

He had also achieved record numbers with monologues on Dante and the Italian Constitution, as well as starring as an almost uncontrollable guest at the Sanremo Festival, Italy's main talent contest, on more than one occasion.
