According to the publication, influential citizens have been organizing meetings for several weeks to discuss the possible deployment of National Guard troops or federal agents by US President Donald Trump .

Governor Kathy Hochul, concerned about the American leader's potential actions following the election of Zohran Mamdani as New York's mayor, even created a virtual "war room." There, she held discussions with law enforcement officials, government officials, business leaders, and activists. The article suggests that the governor is seeking to prevent or mitigate potential federal intervention in New York.

Furthermore, on October 24, US President Donald Trump threatened to "kill" those involved in drug trafficking. He added that the US government would not seek Congressional approval for a "declaration of war" on drug cartels to combat drugs.

That same day, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that US forces had struck a drug trafficking vessel in the Caribbean. He added that six people were killed in the attack.
