FSB officers have thwarted an attempted terrorist attack in the Moscow region, aimed at a high-ranking representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, the agency's Public Relations Center reported. During the operation, an agent operating under the pseudonym Voron was detained - a citizen of Russia and Ukraine born in 1989, recruited by Ukrainian special services outside the country.

According to the FSB , the suspect, following the instructions of his handler via Telegram, made a homemade explosive device with a capacity of over 60 kg in TNT equivalent and hid it in a car purchased with the customers' money. The car was planned to be parked in a pre-selected place and detonated at the moment when the target, a high-ranking military officer, would pass by. The attacker was captured on the M-4 highway on the way to the crime scene.

During interrogation, the detainee admitted that he had collaborated with foreign intelligence services. He was promised the opportunity to return to his country of origin and avoid mobilization into the Ukrainian Armed Forces in exchange for committing a terrorist attack, the FSB Public Relations Center clarified.

Life.ru previously wrote about an incident in the capital region. There, Ukrainian special services deceitfully involved five female pensioners in preparing terrorist attacks against Russian military personnel, intending to use them as “human bombs.”
