Statement from detained actor Yücel Erten after his release

In the operation targeting the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir City Theaters Founding General Artistic Director Yücel Erten was also detained. Erten was released by the prosecutor's office at the end of the 4-day detention period.

Erten, who posted a message on his social media account after his release, said the following:

"My dear artist friends, colleagues, theater and art lovers, valuable civil society organizations, democracy, justice and republic comrades! It was certainly pleasing that the four-day 'detention' that I met for the first time in my 80th year ended, and that this happened at the first possible stage. I believe that the circle of solidarity that you have formed also had an important effect in this. Your good wishes and words of praise eased my fatigue, caressed my heart and put my mind at ease. I do not have the opportunity to respond one by one to these messages that have reached thousands. Therefore, please excuse me for being content with this response here.
