The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered a report on the investigation into the removal of a healthy kidney from a patient in Bashkortostan. This was reported by the agency's press service.
"Alexander Bastrykin has requested a report from Yevgeny Lagatsky, head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Buryatia, on the investigative actions taken in the criminal case and the circumstances established," the official statement reads.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted that the order was being monitored at its central office. It is known that this spring, the woman went to a hospital in Ulan-Ude and was diagnosed with a serious illness.
According to the investigation, the doctors made a mistake due to improper testing. A surgery was performed, resulting in the removal of the patient's healthy kidney. The republic's Ministry of Health stated that it had conducted an investigation and identified violations. The doctors and the head physician were disciplined. The woman received an apology. Investigators opened a case.
