In Krasnoyarsk Krai, the first stage of eliminating the consequences of an environmental accident on the Yenisei River, where 30 tons of fuel spilled into the water as a result of a ship breach, has been completed. According to Yuri Ozerskikh, head of the Kazachinsky District, the work to localize the spill has been fully completed, and the stage of eliminating the consequences is currently underway.
Over the past 24 hours, rescue services have cleared a coastal strip of more than 10 kilometers and a water surface of about 7,500 square meters. Specialists from the regional Ministry of Ecology monitored the water quality, taking 15 samples in a 30-kilometer zone from the scene of the incident.
According to preliminary data, the left bank and the middle of the river in the area of the accident already comply with environmental standards. Minor excesses of pollution were recorded only in the immediate vicinity of the spill site.
Rosrybolovstvo confirmed the absence of mass death of fish and other aquatic bioresources. The agency is currently assessing the amount of environmental damage to file claims against the owner of the damaged vessel.
Earlier it was reported that Chita officials received prison terms for violations during the improvement of the Coal Miners' Park.
