Zero tolerance for violence against women! The era of special intervention begins

The Ministry of Family and Social Services continues its preparations for the 5th National Action Plan to Combat Violence Against Women (2026-2030). The "Research on Violence Against Women in Turkey," initiated in collaboration with TÜBİTAK and led by Marmara University to identify the root causes of violence, is scheduled to be completed this year.
MAPPING WILL BE DRAFTED According to Sabah newspaper, the aim is to develop a field-based, needs-focused, and applicable action plan to combat violence, while the new period will continue with the principle of "zero tolerance for violence." Preparations for the "Research on Violence Against Women in Turkey," which has begun within this scope, will be completed this year. Based on the results, a psychosocial support model sensitive to the specific needs of victims will be developed, and efforts will begin to expand it across Turkey. A data portal/warehouse has also begun to be created as part of the research, which will examine the current situation regarding violence according to sociodemographic characteristics. Artificial intelligence algorithms are being used in the data warehouse for risk analysis and preventive measures.
SPECIAL INTERVENTION PROGRAM: A new project, currently under preparation with TÜBİTAK, aims to develop customized intervention programs tailored to the risks and needs of individuals who perpetrate violence. These programs will be systematically monitored. Following profile analyses, which consider characteristics such as education, age, socioeconomic status, addiction, and history of violence, intervention programs will be developed based on these profiles.
TRAUMA EFFECTS OF CHILDREN WHO WITNESSED VIOLENCE ARE BEING ELIMINATED The "Parenting Skills Development Course Program" was created to reduce the effects of traumatic experiences experienced by children who receive services from women's shelters and who have witnessed violence, and to develop healthy mother-child relationships. 114 women benefited from this program.
Women victims of violence staying in shelters are becoming stronger in every way. Training activities to empower women victims of violence staying in shelters economically and socially have increased this year. As of the end of June 2025, 955 women received financial literacy and information technologies training. To support women in gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in economic life, secure higher-quality jobs, and become self-sufficient, İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) General Directorate also provides job club training covering topics such as resume preparation, interview preparation, body language, and communication . As of the end of June 2025, 696 women had participated in job club training. 320 women received Zero Waste Management training, while 142 women participated in addiction awareness training. 650 women participated in Family Education Programs training.
